I think that’s what the original religious leaders were going for, not us sitting around acting helpless, waiting for a deity to fix our problems. A friend once joined a holy roller type church, and they had this “elite God Squad”, where the members tried to outdo one another on who could be the most helpless, or so it looked to me. One actually bragged about praying to ask what color socks to wear that day! My outlook is more like the famous episode of “Futurama” where Bender meets God- God (or whomever you want), gives us the tools and the capability and free will to use them properly. Or not. Sadly, there’s a whole lot of not.
