The skogsrå is only wrinkled on her back, where the bark is. Otherwise beautiful.

There is a National Monument off St. Croix, Buck Island. The whole thing is underwater. There was always a resident barracuda, which was removed when it got so big it would attack people. There were warnings about wearing jewelry that would flash in the sun, mimicking the movements of a fish, or even brightly patterned bathing suits which might confuse the outline of swimmers enough to provoke an attack. The ’cuda was always right there, watching the snorkelers but not bothering to attack anything that big.

    Isn’t that barracuda?

In the 80’s we did not worry about anything.

Actually, global warming, which is not a hoax, results in more precipitation. Warm air holds more moisture. Where I live, at 63N, the snow season has gotten shorter, the effects of global warming are more pronounced at higher latitudes. But it snows more, and rains more and storms more than it did when I came here 40 odd years ago. Just now, thankfully, it’s snow.

That said, in a ‘good’ lemming year (which gives a good arctic fox/owl year thereafter) one will see groups of drowned lemmings in eddies in the streams. There are just so many that the normal ‘drowned while trying to cross’ becomes noticeable.
