Lappland is a landscape in Sweden and Finland, and a town in Norway. The sami/same (two syllables) live in Norway Sweden Finland and Russia, lapp isn’t used much anymore as the name for the people. That said, there are a lot of place names with lapp in them. Around here there is Lappudden (same point) but there hasn’t been a reindeer drive through there since 1928.
No Tjugondedag Knut då dansas Julen ut. Knut is the 13th of january, then one dances around the tree, breaks and eats the ginger bread house, and faces the prospect of three months with no public holidays. Thank goodness I am a pensioner.
Reindeer all over the place in Jämtland, yes. But I live on the east coast and the closest ‘sameby’ is Tåssåsen waaayyy inland southwest of Östersund.
