“So you are saying that electric motors don’t ever have wear and tear to brushes, commutators, bearings etc?” Yes, I’m saying that Tesla motors do not need servicing, period. Prove me wrong.

As a retired office worker (software engineer) I always identified with Dilbert. Never saw any white racism in it and was quite surprised with Adam’s outing.

Except electric motors and batteries don’t need new spark plugs or oil replacements or fan belts tightened or even coolant replacement – and those are the biggest reasons for visits to the garage. As far as those high-power electrical systems – repairs are few and far between, and mostly just pop out the old one and pop in the new one. The latest batteries don’t need replacing, they’ll last as long as the rest of the car (hundreds of thousands of miles.) Yes, there will still need to be specialty mechanics, but perhaps only 10% of the current number, if that many.

Electric cars are not that complicated and require far less maintenance than ICE cars. The need for auto mechanics will be dropping for years as the ICE cars end up in the junkyard of history.

Adams really screwed up. Although if he hasn’t saved enough to be rich by now, he deserves to be poor.

I thought Nate was really studying Swift’s music – I’m surprised he didn’t actually succeed at this one.

The older generation (me) says get a job if you don’t have one – but which job you get is totally up to you. No one should be sponging off the work of others unless they’re disabled. Working or not is one dichotomy, then picking the right job (and training for it) is completely different. For example, I joined the army at 18 to earn money for college. I did not want to be in the army, but I did want a future career which I loved (software engineer) and am now happily retired with enough savings to live on for the rest of my life.

Every movement has extremists but you shouldn’t judge the goals of the movement by that standard – unless you want to judge every republican by Trump’s crotch-grabbing bragging or George Santos’ completely mythical life story.
