   Rosie, there will always be exceptions and bad builds. I am not claiming the do not happen or exist. What I do know is that private, market based taxi companies wouldn’t chose EVs if they didn’t provide them with good mileage – I just saw a Merc EQS as a taxi – now that’s a taxi I would love to be driven in!

   Gary, Gary, Gary…. you really are not interested in facts, are you? Just like an ICE vehicle, faults in the battery is covered by warranty and insurance the first years – no pain. Then tell me how this would differ from the same guy hearing that he need to replace his ICE unit in a 7-9 year old car – pretty close to 15 grand too…. EV batteries have been proven to last 8-10 years and the “only” thing you will get then is reduced capacity – it will still work but at reduced range. Alot of the taxis in Stockholm are Tesla model S and they usually get around 250 k miles out of a battery – and their recharge pattern isn’t exactly optimal for battery lifetime.

   I have more than once praised Varvel for his skill in drawing – but the message the cartoon images are sending is FROM the cartoonist, and that is whom I am addressing of course. As for Trump – I truly wish that his name would fade away as a parenthesis in US history BUT he has done what no president before him has done – he has stayed in politics, in the debates, in media and that is why it IS relevant to bring him up as a comparison. But I do agree, it really is time to look ahead and Biden’s administration hasn’t exactly been successful, mainly due to the two Quislings Manchin and Sinema.

   Well, for starters I don’t mind seeing both sides of an argument instead of just living in a bubble. Then I also ( I know, perhaps a wee bit over optimistic) nurture the hope that if I bring arguments to a discussion and not just insults that way too many do – I might have a chance of making someone else see the other sides point – and even change their mind if even just a little bit. Don’t you ever widen your horizon, cowboy?

   Who else should pay for American well fare, law&order, military etc. etc – Mexico? Didn’t work out last time it was suggested, did it? Is there anything about “We, the people” you don’t understand Gary (and yes, that was rhetorical…..)?

   This reminds me about a story told by Swedish stand-up comedians long before that term was brought over from the US – Two illiterate neighbours (only 10 miles apart) are out walking in the mountains close to the space center (we do have one – small but still…) when they find cans looking just like beer cans, but containing rocket fuel… They drink happily and the go separate ways to their homes and sleep. The next morning one calls the other and asks “-Have you been to the bathroom yet? -No. -Don’t go!!! -Why not? -I did, and I am calling from Tokyo….”

    I am and have always been very interested in cars – not just “faster is better”, but all technology involved. What is happening right now, today is nothing short of a revolution. Electric Vehicles are still to expensive for the general mass – but as with ALL technical changes the rich start and buy expensive stuff that promotes the next step in innovation and cost reduction (just look at flat TVs – the first 32"-ers were over $15k and they were the rich peoples bragging right). About 3 years from now the next generation of battery cell tech will become available to mass market with the aim of reduce size (energy density) and also reduce cost (less expensive exotic/rare minerals needed). The future is electric – does the US want to lead or be led (perhaps even be left behind?) in the transition? The petrol/diesel engine still have a place and need while the transition is happening. Personally I use HVO100 in my diesel engine mini van – 45 mpg burning oils extracted from waste products in the Finnish forest industry – not a dime to any dictator anywhere. Lisa Benson is sadly stuck with the sad side of greed – the corporations and wealthy persons who just want to reap – not sow – that is not the entrepreneurship that built America!
