   Actually, I’m sure that at least some people will be considerate and refrain from spoiling things. I don’t at all believe I can “control the behavior of others”, but I believe that asking them to think of others often helps.This Sunday, I went to a pizza parlor for lunch. After a while, the owner asked if I could move to a smaller table, because a large family needed the larger table I was sitting at.I didn’t start talking about how one can’t control other people’s behavior. I just moved to a smaller table, because considerate is a good thing to be.

   What I mean is, you’re comparing oranges and apples. You’re comparing your experience, which is of usually having forgotten a spoiler, with other people’s experience, which is of remembering the spoiler and thus enjoying the work less.

   I mean, of course people are going to be upset that something that they like is ruined for them, even if just a bit.

   And naturally you won’t be upset by a spoiler if you’ve forgotten about it, because that means that for all intents and purposes, you haven’t received a spoiler. That’s like saying that my poor eyesight doesn’t bother me, because I’ve got perfect contact lenses.

    A lifetime of experience has shown that spoilers ruin MY enjoyment of a story, and the same is true for many other people. I mean, research has shown that spicy food releases endorphins when people eat it, but I don’t go pouring Death Sauce into people’s food unasked, you know? :)
