in the 80s, the Houston chronicle bought out a rival paper, and neglected to run the rival’s mostly different comic strips. much complaining ensued. the chronicle editor was surprised that many ppl cared so deeply, so they ran the old papers strips as well, and had what was probably the largest comic section any the time. being a fanboy I even subscribed from New York, for several months. a singular occurrence for a newspaper, I believe.

joined FaceBook 2010. because I did I got to play an Amati and a Strad (Amati much better), got invited to play in a Russian music festival, met my co-producer/engineer who offers free studio/mixing, sold a bunch of merchandise, and met some ppl who became actual friends. that’s for starters. I know about the fucktons of catastrophically horrible aspects, but that’s no reason to deny the positive ones. oh, and my wife was able to contact the woman from India who had been her BF in high school, who she had feared been killed for political reasons.

i’m a liberal/progressive, and love my right-wing relatives. Also am Facebook “friends” with some righties, but not if they’re nasty. and yr above defintion of “liberal”- it’s a doozy. new one on me! i also have a few “conservative” beliefs (yay teddy roosevelt and his conserving nature). also agree with rightie editorials at least a couple times a month. your all-liberals-are-alike nonsense is just silly. anyway, best possible fortune to you, no snark or irony intended.

one of the best depictions of early and mid-20th century US ever. i know this will bother a lot of people, but i think he’s worth a half dozen f scott fitzgeralds in that era.
