    I used to have chickens and know from experience , they lay for 2 years but by that time they are too tough to eat, anything short of 6 months will work. The meat chickens you buy are only 8 weeks old.

    we heat with propane out here and the price varies month to month so I bought 2 tanks and a wood stove 40 years ago , I can go all winter with a summer fill and the house is 75 even with below 0 temps, People give me wood and I own a splitter, works well.
