This “DeGroot” is Frank, I assume? From the way the Jumpin’ Jack instructor (AKA Judy Funnie from Doug) is drawn with womanly curves and the DeGroot is drawn shapeless and schlubby it kind of makes me think we’ll be getting the switch-a-roo. Especially with that transfer sign being a Chekhov’s gun yesterday.

If we went for a big twist it ends up being Nancy, Brad, or Toni but I kinda doubt that since they set up Frank wanting to do it.

If characters gave any of their tormenters the bare minimum consequences of just ignoring them or not inviting them to things the Evanses would never be able to write anything.

In this universe designated villains get invited to their victims’ parties rather than restraining orders and open contempt.

I could do with never seeing “Bets ‘n’ Gun” again after their odious melodrama. Realistically, I know that the Evanses are too obsessed with Gunther to boot him, but he’s such a drag that I wish he’d be written away. And, Bets is just a chore.

I’d also swiftly boot out Jack and Nil for the way that they handled the MonaDavid model posing thing. You cannot convince me these two aren’t devious creeps.

I didn’t hate Tara till now, but she’s made my list for this one. I think Piro wouldn’t have gone along with leaving Luann to do the dive alone though.

I feel like Stef and Kip as hate-sinks are too obvious a choice.

Yes. Please do that, Luann. The cast of this strip needs some serious pruning on awful “friends.” The ironic part is a week ago I said I thought Tara was entertaining, but now she just seems like a malignant bully picking on Luann cause Luann’s an easy target. You’re telling me you wanted to set up a GROUP skydiving adventure and “forgot” to inform Luann? This is some hazing nonsense.

I feel like it’s tiring how most Luann characters just let the other characters behave like the worst people and still let them hang around them and invite them to things. I wish the Evanses would stop with the “Karma Houdini” stuff cause the lack of consequences are getting harder to ignore.

Also I hope Frank comes to do skydiving with Luann. Maybe Bernice too for good measure since it’s been insanely long since Bernice has behaved like an actual friend to Luann and it would be nice to see her do something other than point out how much Luann fails at everything.

Also, this woman looks like Judy Funnie from Doug all grown up.

Wow Tara’s awful. What kind of friend does that?

Maybe she’d been saving up birthday money?

Poor thing, she sounds like she thinks it’ll instantly turn her adventurous and brave in every aspect that entails by the nature of just doing a brave thing. If only it was as easy as that. But for what it’s worth it’s a start to trying new things. Go for it kid! It’s a bit scary given the low, low chance of things turning out bad, but the thrill will be worth the 200 bucks.

Regarding Nancy, she is really trying her best to get Luann to NOT do this and it’s kind of silly given it’s something thousands of people skydive safely every year… but I’m not a parent and I can’t help but kinda imagine that if I were I’d be a little freaked out at the idea of my kid being the one jumping out the plane, so I don’t really judge her for this. She already has one child in a career path that risks his life so Luann being risky will no doubt give her more gray hairs.

Imagine if Frank becomes the cool old man to Tara and Piro. That’d be funny.

She might just be telling them about her plans. If she was telling them with anxiety and complaining about it then she’s … well, no one ever really accused Luann of being a particularly “thinking ahead” person. She’s kinda flaky.

I agree. I feel like Quill actually made Luann feel like she was making progress in growing up. I definitely welcomed his influence on her in the high school years… though even back then I was constantly thinking, “Greg’s going to boot this boy out of the strip the minute he gets iffy on Luann having a boyfriend. He’s literally from Australia.” Aaaand that’s pretty much what ended up happening with him being hurriedly written out. :( Kind of a bummer.
