Actually, he’s giving no credit to where they ARE hooked up to renewables. And that percentage isn’t exactly small.
Depends on who’s scoring.
When Gorrell starts noticing, you know it’s beyond real.
Agreed. So can we drop the puerile ‘the parties are rigging the primaries’ crap and have some worthwhile candidates run for the office? And win enough primaries and (blech!) caucasus to become the candidate. I’m constantly hearing whining (especially from progressives) about same-old same-old, but I don’t see progressive candidates running for the position and convincing enough voters to beat their competition. Any party that goes into an election season with the attitude that they owe a certain candidate the nomination is setting themselves up for defeat. Just ask Bob Dole and Hillary Clinton.
Because the Democrats (for the most part) support it.
They figured out what the average fuel tax a car would pay over the course of the year, then added that figure to the general annual vehicle registration fee. Possibly not as accurate as it could be (doing the average obviously penalizes the low mileage driver while giving a road warrior a bargain) but it’s close enough for government work. As EV’s proliferate, I can expect this to change, in the government’s favor.
I’m in Virginia, the legislature caught on to the concept that EV’s were exempt from the gas tax shortly after the Leaf and Tesla S hit the market. And moved accordingly to correct the imbalance. It’s still funny about how many anti-EVers here don’t realize that, and accuse us of getting an unfair free ride.
It’s not free. You should see what I pay in annual vehicle registration. The difference between my EV and an ICE vehicle (yes, I have one of those, too) is roughly what an ICE vehicle driver pays in gas taxes.
Typical anti-EVer crap. Probably not helped by paying $5.00/gallon for gas, and I’m willing to bet whatever he drives doesn’t have a 40mpg 3 or 4 cylinder engine under the hood. Well, I consider myself very lucky that I traded my ICE car in for an EV a year and a half ago. I laugh at gas prices, and so far the adjustment to charging has been totally painless.
No, you’re going to need the equivalent of a Republican senator’s grandchild as a victim to get anything started on that side. And just one won’t necessarily do it.
