   An increase in pain may occur after an epidural, and it’s not quite a week yet. It can take about two weeks for full effect, which is why the follow-up appointment is usually scheduled for two weeks or more after the injection. The bad news is that sometimes it takes two injections, which has happened to me a few times. I hope that doesn’t happen in your case.

   Something occurred to me when others mentioned needing to hydrate before and after an injection: I always hydrate, never drink less than two liters of water a day, usually more. That may be why I never have trouble after an injection. Try it. It is almost impossible to over-hydrate, though it’s a good idea to keep your electrolytes up by eating fruit or drinking fruit juice.
