“Do you believe?” is a far cry from “We have proof”.

McCarthy is pathetic, and so is anyone who defends him.

When the workers are treated well, they support their superiors, and understand that the superiors have greater opportunities because of their position. When the workers are treated poorly, they have less patience for that sort of thing. You can take income inequality just so far.

That reminds me of a story that I hope is true.

A man, who was in a hurry, tried to break into the front of a long line of people at an airline terminal. He needed to make arrangements for a flight, and so he felt entitled to jump in front of others who wanted to do the same thing. The ticket agent tried to ignore him, whereupon he screamed, “Do you know who I am?”

The ticket agent grabbed a PA microphone and announced, “There is a man here who does not know who he is. Anyone who can help him identify himself, please come to the ticket counter.”

Let’s all pretend that she actually chose those words, or actually any of the words, in her non-apology.

But it was really written by a staff member, who was told, “Don’t bother me with details. Just make it go away.”

I’ll go along with the idea that evidence should be introduced and investigated. Here’s some evidence: more than one House committee has had two years to investigate everything and everyone related to Hunter Biden. No one can deny that the heads of those committees and the majority of their members started with the determination to find something to be able to nail his father with; anything at all. And in those two years, none of them have released anything but suspicion, and even listened to flat denials of alleged activities given in testimony by Hunter Biden’s co-workers. Granted, he fudged his taxes, but ended up paying them. Granted he lied on his gun-purchase form. Try him, convict him, or come up with a plea deal that is neither more nor less generous than what anyone not related to the president would receive.

The Mueller report took a lot of time primarily because the key players in the scheme either lied, refused to testify, or went back to Mother Russia. But the facts were well known to anyone who watched any network but Fox. When I read the Mueller report, it was a walk down memory lane. All the players, all the games played….there was nothing new there.

I think the reason so many people don’t want to believe Republican accusations is because those same accusers were and are willing to deny any and all truth in order to unite behind the Big Lie, including (but surely not limited to) “strengthening” voting laws, removing states from a national election-reporting database, and officially (through the RNC) calling the coup attempt “legitimate political discourse”.

It is logical to conclude that any group of people who can see truth in all those lies may not be the best arbiters of the truth.

The cartoon brought out the conspiracy nuts. This is why the next wave will be worse than necessary. Already the medical-best-practice-avoidance has triggered measles outbreaks because parents refuse the vaccine that virtually eradicated it. (Vaccines are bad, you know. An actress said so.) People don’t recognize how dangerous measles can be because those details have been forgotten…that’s how long we’ve gone without a problem. Can we expect a resurgence of polio soon?

This is not limited to denying medicine. The same people deny science (human-influenced climate change), deny education (only teach what the legislature considers to be “facts”), deny the value of libraries (burn the books I don’t like!).

So, in order to help you people show how much smarter you are for finding your own way:

Make sure you blow out the fire under the hood. Make sure you pour cold water on a grease fire. Staying in the sun until your skin blisters is a wonderful way to cleanse toxins from your body. Do not use eye or ear protection when using a chainsaw. (That’s for sissy democrats.) Remember that when you use a chainsaw, it’s safer to do so on top of a ladder. Take the stupid deflector off your lawnmower. Rocks and other debris need to be free.

Do whatever you need to do in order to prove that reality truly does not exist. Just keep your ding-danged germs to yourself and your loved ones. And don’t expect me to contribute to your givesendgo page when you’re faced with sudden hospital or funeral bills.

Kyle Rittenhouse had a friend purchase a weapon of war because he was too young to legally buy one. He then went across state lines to voluntarily act as a vigilante in a town known to be trouble, and he found it.

He’s made millions in donations and is a darling of the second-amendment set.

And no one went to jail; not the parents, not the buyer, not the killer.

    Just one example.

Note I take no position on Hunter Biden except to say that he should be punished like any other citizen who is found guilty of whatever he’s found guilty of.

But don’t try to tell us that every gun owner is as pure as the driven snow.

Yep. The country can go belly-up on 10/1. Nothing can get passed in the House because the speaker can’t get the votes. Those who are bemoaning today’s economy can’t even imagine what will happen when their “representatives” shut the government down. They’ve had nine months since they agreed to what they won’t agree to now, without any plan to do it “better”.

    But Hunter Biden….

Whitewater, but her e-mails, Benghazi, now this. Millions of tax dollars spent, serious time wasted, in order to not find any semblence of facts to support an already-accepted conclusion.

We could find a way to pass a real budget, to tackle inflation, to come up with a workable immigration system and a better health care system.

I’m kidding, of course. Bring on the sub-committees!

    “conservatives are happier”?

Like the armed conservatives who stormed the Michigan State House and yelled nose-to-nose at security personnel?

Like the conservatives who harrassed poll workers, banging on windows and doors while votes were being counted?

Like the conservatives who marched with Tiki torches in Charlottesville, yelling “Jews will not replace us”?

Like the conservatives who over-ran the Capitol on 1/6/21?

The Republican party is the one that claims the position of “conservative”. Its marketing program has for years been set up to appeal to anger, outrage, and victimhood.

    And you think they’re happy?
