    I thought perhaps this was the start of what is ACTUALLY the 12 days of Christmas. When I used to decorate for the holiday I would always keep the stuff up until Epiphany.

    I am so bad at chess that years ago when Yahoo still had their games area a guy joined my table. We each played 2 moves. He said I was horrible and took a forfeit! If he had asked I would have canceled the game. I guess because I didn’t take my time thinking about my move or maybe I missed some opening move that chess people know he realized just how bad I would be. Ending the game the way he did he lost several hundred points and I gained twice that. The highest levels were red and then orange. I was the lowest level in chess. I don’t think I had even finished the initial 20 games to get out of “provisional” status. Literati and Spades were the games I excelled at. I still miss playing Spades there. Suic i d e Spades was fun to play, but also very “OMG WHY!! did I play this bloody game!” especially when your partner has the ace of spades and you have the king and queen.

    When I was a kid I came home from school to see my mom on a chair yelling at one of our cats. Said cat had what would soon be just the tail of a lizard in his mouth. The rest of the lizard had run under our fish aquarium. It was so funny at the time. I was able to shoo the little guy outside and mom came down off the chair. Years later (in a different state) we were on the driveway (we lived in a house the was centered on 10 acres, so the driveway was long and muddy. Mom saw something in the road. It wound up being a huge toad. Again she was freaked out. The woman grew up at the end of the Great Depression. We ALWAYS had animals. At the time with the frog we had actually moved to a farm (hence the 10 acres). Her fear of reptiles was weird. I personally love them. My issues are with roaches. {shudder} Ten foot snake? No problem. Tarantula? Cool. Inch long roach? Commence shrieking and shaking.

    When I was 11 I was 5’ 6" and a 36B. People thought I was in my 20s. Looks mean nothing. We moved right after I turned 12. Mom was a waitress, so she was at work for the night. It was the first time I didn’t go, trick-or-treating. I had fun handing out the candy and watching horror movies.

    I went to elementary school in El Paso. From 2-6th grades I took Spanish. Our teacher for most of those years was a woman who was born in Juarez. She told us she was teaching us Spanish from Spain, NOT Mexico, and that we may have some problems understanding other forms of Spanish. She likened it to someone from the deep south talking to someone from New York. They may both be speaking English, but they won’t necessarily understand each other.

    I have an aversion to scorpions. They do that as well. The ones that glow under blue light are cool as a concept, but I want no part of being near them. {shudder}

    I was on a delivery around Halloween. After the guy took his stuff I complimented him on his decor and said that the spider was awesome. He asked, “What spider?”. That was when said spider decided to move. The man shrieked. I had never seen a wolf spider in person until then. The spider was the coolest thing. He was totally chill, but when we got too close he decided to leave. Meanwhile a cockroach will have me screaming and running. Ten foot snake?-no problem. Spider the size of my hand?-neato. One inch roach?-NOPE!! lol
