    Folsom and nearby California towns thumbed the nose to lockdowns beginning in August 2020 or so. Large fairs and market gatherings are common by April 2022. I was the only one wearing a mask on April 24 on Sutter Street. The sky hasn’t fallen as a result.

    In my old town, there was a brief scandal a popular petty politician who was also a showgirl, initiated a terrifying brawl with colleague with pretty much the same credentials and leanings, and who I would have expected to be the best of friends. It’s dimly possible that I was the prize being fought over.
