I wonder if Jason Chatfield is going to have much (or even any) involvement with the Ginger Meggs brand moving forward, especially as it seems he won’t be part of the animated series.
Probably said word to this effect when the strip was originally published, but…
The concept of this one seems rather reminiscent of that “Great Wall of China” TV Ad (Father responding to son in car: “It was to keep the rabbits out”) for Telstra Bigpond which aired here in Australia many years ago! ;)
Mother’s Day is also held on the 2nd Sunday of May here in Australia.
It’s Fathers Day which seems to have the weird overseas variations – our day for Dad is on the first Sunday of September, but I think the Northern Hemisphere have theirs in June or something?
Possibly a pre-2013 strip? Australia hasn’t had analogue TV for close to a decade now, plus it would seem the Meggs still had a CRT whereas just about everyone has flat screen TVs these days.
While it was a pretty good story arc (perhaps one that could’ve worked in the 2021 book?), I have to say I’m glad the rerun of this series is finally over after 2.5 months.
Maybe we’ll get some new daily strips soon? Especially as it seems we have been getting new Sunday strips this year.
Australia actually has a few different games colloquially known as “football” (or “footy”) which are played with an oval ball, however I suspect none are the same one that Charlie Brown plays! :)
…or Minnie? She’s Ginge’s crush, whereas Aggie is more of a tomboyish friend.
