Joined the Canadian Army in ‘71, retired in ‘03. Went on to Public Service, retired for the final time in ‘15. All of my deployments were with the UN.
32 years, several of which I remember clearly;-)
I’m retired army and we’d go for a run every morning for PT. 5-10 km runs were the norm, mixed in with circuit training, obstacle course and 16 km ruck marches. The knees have only so many miles in them, so by retirement, a nice, unhurried, fair weather hike was as far as it goes. Now I’m recovering from my second knee surgery and it ain’t fun at 70. All perks of the career, wouldn’t change it for the world
