Neil, you’re right. On November 8, panels 1 and 2 got me thinking that the Caxton book was the one that was brought to the bookbinder six months ago. That was incorrect – it was stated by Lee on November 15, panel 1 that the book was from the out-of-state case, but I didn’t make the connection. My apologies!
Just think of how slow the legal process for Libris’ trial will be! For instance, it apparently took six months for the Caxton heirs’ lawyer to open the safe, probably due to legal wrestling between family members :P Her legal team can’t possibly get her out on bail, even with house arrest and an ankle bracelet – can they? Mr. Kleene seems to be good in doing that…
Two days from when? Working backward, this is the morning after Dick figured out an epee was used the evening before. That in turn was after a day of Tracy questioning people – are we are saying that this was the same day as when Lee identifies the bookbinder at the morgue? Which must have been the day after he is killed, which was just hours after Lee met with the guy. That would inn fact make the last murder two days ago – in fact, probably more like 36 hours. That’s pretty fast, considering the Caxton murder was six months ago, and the trail didn’t start heating up until Manutius was found dead!
So what about that second report that Tracy got handed (by Lizz) at police headquarters? We’ve been assuming that it’s about the threat made by X to Wendy Wichel – maybe it will provide a sense of urgency for the magistrate to get Libris arrested and held without bail.
I’ve wondered what would have happened if Owen hadn’t known Libris. They probably would have found Libris, but taken a little longer – after all, the MCU eventually found the connection between the Libris and Caxton patriarchs. The fencing aspect would had to have come a lot later, though.
