   Did some training back in military days – was going to be a single jump into the water. But the wind was too high for the jump to safely happen. Don’t regret the training (PLFs etc). But if I do jump – I don’t want it to be a tandem jump, want to be in the drivers seat.

   usually. We do issue our cadets parachutes when they go up in gliders – just hope not to have to use them. The funniest part is that as well as a maximum weight, there’s also a minimum weight. For the parachutes that we’re issue that’s 50kg (about 120lb?) If the person is lighter than that – then it’s not a parachute, it’s a dandelion seed! I know we’ve had to stick water bottles in the pockets of a couple of people that were a few pounds shy of the minimum.
