There’s a big difference between discriminating against a person and refusing based on content. You shouldn’t be able to discriminate against the person, but you also shouldn’t be forced to create things you find vile and hateful. Should a doctor be able to refuse treating a person based on who their are? Lesbians have already been refused normal treatment for health problems available to everyone else. Should we go back to times when a “Green Book” is needed for certain people when traveling? When you offer the exact same services to some but not others, that isn’t “freedom to organize” that’s flat out discrimination.
Looks like Rikkets has already forgotten who Ye brought to a dinner with Trump. Oh yeah, Nick Fuentes, the known White Supremacist. So we already know he hangs with them. TFG claims that he didn’t know him, so by default Nick must have been Ye’s friend.
And who was it exactly that Ye brought to dinner with Trump? Oh yeah, Nick Fuentes, the known White Supremacist. So we already know he hangs with them.
You are missing the point. Is the web designer against the customer or the content? The web designer should be able to refuse to do content that they find offensive but refusal to create content based solely on the orientation of the customer is discrimination. It is a slippery slope – one that I personally have seen in the past used against POC and yes, that is definitely not just a smoke screen. It happened before, it can happen again.
Switch the discrimination from orientation to race, sex or religion and if it seems wrong, it is still wrong.
What some posters here seem to not get is there is a huge difference between discrimination towards a what should be a protected class (sexual orientation) and creating vile hateful content based on hateful beliefs and discrimination.
It depends on the content of the creation. You shouldn’t be able to discriminate against the person, but you also shouldn’t be forced to create things are vile and hateful.
On the other hand, that mechanic would be a hero in parts of my state and other local mechanics would probably join in the discrimination in solidarity. Hence why such discrimination can be quite a problem.
I’m old enough to remember such discrimination towards POC for the purpose of driving them out.
Depends on the place one lives in. There are areas in my state where entire towns would give the discriminator a lot of support.
It’s a slippery slope. We’ve already had doctors refuse to serve lesbians. What happens if you end up living in an area where all of a particular type of store or doctor discriminate against you? How about hotels refusing to let you stay when you are traveling? We’ve seen this happen in the past with POC. They had to come up with the Green Book so they could plan a trip and have a place to stay.
No kidding. My brother told me all the vaccines he had to get when he was stationed in south Korea.
