   It is with deep sadness that I must tell you my beloved Uno (my new avatar) died just a few minutes ago. I totally did not see this coming. She seemed perfectly normal on Sunday. She ate her canned cat food treat that night. But yesterday, she just crashed. I don’t know how else to put it. She barfed some white foamy stuff and let out such a scream when she barfed – I never heard anything like it. I went to pet her and her entire body just felt ice cold. I’m assuming her body temperature was well below normal. I didn’t even have a chance to get her to the vet. Less than 12 hours after realizing there was something wrong with her, she was gone. I haven’t got a clue what was wrong with her. She was just a few days short of her 14th birthday. The last surviving littermate of hers is April. The others were Oscar (who died of cancer on 3-23-12), Tigger, who died on 11-16-18 from an enlarged heart and fluid in his lungs and Felix, who died on 8-1-22.

   RIP Uno, 4-2-09 to 3-28-23

   As nearly everyone here knows, I have long been trying to get my Annie, a formal feral kitty, to let me pet her. I’m even trying to hold out some hope she will one day settle into my lap. So, do I have a tale of suspense to share!

   There I was, sitting on the far left end of my couch. Oreo was on my lap. On the floor, just to my left, Annie was there, head butting with Joy. Annie kept looking up at me with such a peaceful, blissful expression, I could see that at long last, she was going to jump into my lap. To my utter amazement, she did just that! But I didn’t try to pet her right away. I wanted to see if she would curl up and settle in my lap first. I kept very still, scarcely daring to breathe. Well, Annie walked across my lap to my right, then crossed my lap again to my left. Then she jumped back down to the floor. That’s when I woke up. Drat! It was just a dream! Maybe I should have dreamed that I petted her, since I haven’t had much luck in that department.

   As a side note, I really did get 3 strokes down her back just a little while ago while she was eating her canned cat food. So at least I got to win my “Ha Ha!” game. Ha ha, Annie, I touched you!
