It would have included me because I am asthmatic and Hitler needed good healthy Arian subjects, not underweight, sick weaklings as I was in babyhood and youth.

Wrong:L we can repay them by being patriotic citizens, standing up for what is right, defending Constitutional principles, reading books about American History, so we can realize what this land is all about.

Probably all of us hae fathers who served. My dad was a Gunners Mate on a trooip transport in the Pacific; that ship was the first US Navy ship to enter NY harbor after Japan surrendered followint the 2nd A-Bomb. A pic of the ship, the USS General Harry Taylor was on the front page of the New York Daily News, August 1945.

It was the turning poiunt of the War; Germany from Normandy onward had two lines of troops, as they realized they were losing. Any soldier who deserted the front line was shot by those in the seond line. Source: Gustav Brunken, a soldier in a tank division of the German Army.

The majority of soldiers are teenagers/early 20s.At the Alamo, in 1836, som 86% of the Defenders were under the age of 22. The youngest a mere 12 years old. Sacrifice for freedom is a worthy effort, and we find many from Colonial times to today who are willing to lie down their lives so as we can come and go and even insult their memory. Without them we would all be under totalitarianism. A good reason for us to honor our citizenship by going to the polls come November.

A few years farther back I stood in what was the wheat field at Antietam, where rifle fire cut down every blade of wheat. Sharpsburg/Antietam saw the heaviest loss of American life in the history of our country. Sep 17 1862

May have been so, the thought of a crisp hot dog, or ribs over a woods fire tends to water my mouth.

There are always choices. Hitler chose to overrun Europe. The Will for Freedom was stronger.I had an uncle who was on the Beach on that long ago 6th of June, another who was aboard a transport, who would go on land the next day.Without Jun 6 1944, we would not be texting messages today in English in a land where we can choose to so do. Without Jun 6 1944 we would not even be writing in English. There would be nothing to think or act on but Nazi and Nippon propaganda.
