And now I want donuts. Luckily the place near me does online ordering.
It made me so happy to see the little “updated today” banner on Cat’s icon today!!
I specialized in pastry/baking, and when I wanted to work I could – hubby has a good job and I only worked part-time while still being an at home mom. Pay and hours are often crap but I love being in a kitchen. I could easily find work now as culinary has a staff shortage across the board. global disease outbreak + decrease in those going in to the field = more jobs. COVID didn’t help, but the real issue is things like Food Network and the constant stream of “celebrity” chefs made it look like it was easy to get to the level of Bobby Flay. The work is hard, kitchens are hot, and hours can be insane. Also skipped over is the prevalence of those with addiction issues.
We push college degrees and disregard the trades. My own mother pushed me to go to a four year school – loved the social life, scraped by with a degree. Ended up in the military and went culinary school in my 40’s. Straight A student in culinary arts because it fit me better than a four school was ever going to.
There is middle ground. I agree with you Mike Rowe’s dismissal of almost all higher education is discouraging.
Did you stop to think that her behavior/desire for attention was to fill a void? Mom not in the picture, dad in the picture but not really active in her life. She sought out male attention – doesn’t mean she was happy. She gained weight because she stress ate when dad got involved with Anne. Tiff learned some valuable lessons about herself through all of the drama/trauma. She’s finally comfortable in her own skin and that skin isn’t a size 5. Also, did you ever consider that she may have stayed that thin because of an eating disorder? Trying to go back to even a “Skoch” thinner could trigger the disorder.
I had to stop ordering wet food from Chewy. The dog’s wet food came packed so the cans wouldn’t get damaged in shipping, but the cats’, not so much. Lost at least a couple of cans each shipment.
Georgia hinted very strongly at her fandom talk last week that we would be seeing Jules this week.
Betts was big into cosplay before Gunther met her. Sewing is only a small part of the craft. I dabble at cosplay but am good at repairing it (on cosplay rescue staff at the east coasts’s largest anime con), less than half of Betts cosplay is fabric. Most of it will be made from various thermoplastics.
Absolutely gorgeous kitties! Your Stella and my Stella aka Stella Bella could be twins!
