In various places, we’re talking about our older neighbors/friends/relatives stubbornly staying in their own places when they actually need some level of care, and how we’re all afraid that they’re going to fall/starve/stroke/whatever and die while we’re away at work or something. I just want to say, as an old person, that I would rather die all alone in my own home than be put into care.

Obviously, if this happens to someone you know, we will all give you purrs and head bumps and prayers, because losing someone hurts. But I do think we’re too quick to give ourselves blame when this happens. Maybe it’s not a blamable event. Maybe it’s a choice that person made and is content with. Be sorry they’re gone. But be glad for them that they went their own way.

Less of a downer: I absolutely love Burt stomping on the keyboard. :)

I knew instantly the song you were referring to. Perhaps @Maizing is some kinda spring chicken!

My current cat BladeRunner who has no pedigree whatsoever is obviously Maine Cat. He just weighed in at 15 pounds. He’s not at all round; he’s very long and lank. And yes, he is beautiful!

I think he’s reaching back for the magnifying glass.

I’ve eaten squirrel. They’re kind of a pest, and if my partner shot it, we ate it.

I’m thinking the average of cats I’ve shared space with has been closer to 13 or 14 pounds. But I am known to like a nice round cat.

    Happy Midsummer Day everyone.

Also, somewhat on topic? A quote from a book I only got ’cause Amazon was practically giving it away and the title got my attention:

If I have any motto, in my later years, it is “Never regret the cheese.” Je ne regrette Brie-en.
