When I was a kid we just took dud firecrackers and broke them in half and lit the gunpowder. No firecracker was ever wasted.

I lived in Drumheller for a few years back in the 60s. There was hardly a child in town who did not have some sort of fossil collection. All you had to do was wander to the edge of town and you were in fossil territory. Eventually the authorities had to discourage such amateur collecting as too many fossils were missing pieces.

I quite enjoyed Melville’s classic, but then as a history major I wasn’t put off by the detailed descriptions of whaling and life on board a ship.

Peanut butter gets a squirrel every time. Just put it in a live catch trap and then transport the squirrel out to a better location.

The childish behaviour of the North Koreans never fails to amaze me. No doubt they’ll soon be lining up at the DMA and mooning the South Koreans.

That is what science is all about. Someone comes up with a new idea and then others investigate it. In the case of global warming it has been investigated by thousands of scientists over several decades and the majority have reached the conclusion that it is actually happening and it is going to cost trillions to deal with its impact. Ignoring it will not change that fact as the clown in the cartoon is discovering.

If that is the case then it is not science.
