Right – I hope those two techs have seen the error of their ways & moved on to a more animal-friendly way of life…

I love the horrible shenanigans some people get up to with the Elf – I just don’t like the spying aspect. Too much like “Big Brother Is Watching You.” YMMV; AWYSB…

I was 4 when I figured out (for a variety of scientific reasons) that Santa Claus couldn’t possibly be a real live person, then I spent the next half-dozen years putting up with silly adults trying to convince me otherwise. As far as I was concerned, they were lying to me, refusing to listen to reason, or just being stupid, & I decided that if I ever had kids, I wasn’t going to insult their intelligence that way!

Fast forward 30 years, & I told my precocious 3yo son, “Santa Claus is pretend, but that can be our secret, OK? Besides, it’s fun to pretend, & if you do something nice for someone & they don’t know who did it, that’s sort of like you being Santa Claus to them.” Our church always had one of the guys dress up in robes on the first Sunday in December & tell the story of the real St. Nicholas, & all the kids learned that St. Nicholas was the inspiration for Santa. So they got to have the fun, understand the history, & learn about the spirit of giving. Good times…

I’ve been saying for decades that the only thing that trickles down is the raw sewage – but I like the way you say it!

Not technically, but the “keep warm” setting runs a little above 140℉ (minimum safe holding temperature for hot food), so it has a somewhat comparable net effect. Works for me, & it’s a lot cheaper than buying a separate appliance (not to mention more convenient than cluttering up my tiny hole-in-the-wall kitchen; the crockpot gets a lot of use & lives on a back burner with the element & knob removed)…

I think we all grew up thinking our middle names should be “Jesus.”

LOL! When I learned how babies are made, I thought: “My parents did THAT??? Waitaminnint, they must have done it at least 4 times…”
