So good to see another S&SP! Happy Fall!

Agree, agree, AGREE! He is a small, small man.

For sheer grace and sportsmanship, Federer with always be my favorite player. I miss seeing him play. And I respect and like Nadal, too. I’m looking forward to seeing Alcarez develop in his career; he’s wonderful!

Coverly is great! And I just discovered Yaffle and am enjoying it mightily.

I loved the kale I grew in a pot on my deck. Next year I’m planting it in my raised bed to get more. The hybrid name is unfortunate (Red Russian) but it grew all summer long in South Carolina heat and was always mild and delicious, even after it bolted. I’m going to try to grow some this fall because I have extra seeds. We ate it, of course, in salads, and my sister made creamed kale like she would spinach and it was sooooo good. Full sun to partial shade and keep it kinda moist with good drainage and you can’t go wrong.

My friends and I would do the same thing on the railroad tracks. Just walk and walk. Hypnotized by the rails. Cattails growing everywhere. We’d take one and pick it apart and ~fling!~ toss the bits of fluff up and watch them go wafting on the breeze. Good memories.

    Oh, this is brilliantly funny!

We took in a young stray cat in December. Teddy B came in and did the mental equivalent of a fist bump with all 3 of our dogs and they responded with, “Hey, dude, yer COOOL…” Nary a hiss to be heard. Dogs accepted him immediately. We are still amazed. Plus Teddy B has learned Come, Watch Me, and Sit! Dogcats rule.

Not sure about HHI myself. I haven’t been there since a weekend jaunt with my boyfriend waaaay back in the 80s! Ah, the memories… Good ones.

I’m happy that the beaches I’ve visited in my state (South Carolina— Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Myrtle Beach) allow dogs. Off leash is ok in the early morning, and leashed dogs welcome anytime. We loved watching the Labrador retrievers one morning; they were tireless fetching the water dummy over and over. Our dachshund/cattle dog mix MECO just wants to chase seagulls! And dig MUCH deeper holes than he could at home. He loves the beach. As do I!

    SO FUNNY!
