    By coincidence I watched his “Macbeth” earlier today. His “Othello” is great as well. Both are very much in the spirit of film noir.

    Living in Indiana as a boy in the fifties, I never saw anyone play marbles. Then in 1957 when I was 11 our family moved to eastern Kentucky, and there it seemed that almost all boys played marbles. There was a change of landscape and of dialect as well. But baseball was a mania in both places.

    The dog was named Snoopy by November 10, and thus not so long after his first appearance. He was based on a pet that Schultz had as a boy, named Spike.
