    I find this scenario far more plausible for the paucity of other civilizations than interstellar war. Species from the same planet fight for the same resources, while species from different planets value different resources.

    We CAN graze. It’s berry season! Wine berries, black berries, raspberries, blue berries, and even a few mulberries. In a month we can eat autumn olives, and then juniper berries. Plenty of other edibles are around, including milk thistle, varieties of mint, and many flowers.
