My favorite Don Meredith story, besides those my sister had from being at SMU with him — MNF game with the Oilers in Houston. Whoever they were playing was killing them and the stadium started emptying out. With most fans gone, the camera pans around and lands on long lanky Texan (boots, jeans, hat) stretched out over the row in front of him, arms crossed, not happy. He sees the camera on him and shoots it the finger. Don, not missing a beat, said, “that just goes to show you that Oilers fan think their team is Number 1”. One of great moments in MNF history.
It’s because of the rules: you cannot steal signs using electronic equipment, which is where the Astros, Red Sox, and Yankees got into trouble. If you figure out pitches without electronics, you’re good.
Agreed. If you don’t know what you’re looking at, you don’t know what you’re looking at. My contractually bound life partner is more varied in her tastes and reads about almost every piece whereas I tend to be more selective and only read about the pieces that I find interesting. Though that tends to be most of any museum’s collection.
Now I know what ASMR videos are. Just spent 10 minutes on one. They are indeed entrancing, but I don’t know why.
