   I didn’t say he said masks were a failure. I said he initially said masks weren’t needed because they didn’t work, when he really thought they did work. But he had no faith in the American public so he lied in order to preserve the n95 masks for doctors and front line workers. When the supply increased he changed his recommendation, but his initial lie caused many people to doubt him, and contributed to later problems.
