The best comic strips should read as comic books in miniature, especially when concluding an entire narrative. I think Curtis’s writing seems to suffer substantially in that category, lately, because not enough of his stories tell solid, coherent tales to be told. Instead we have badly fragmented tales with dull plots overwhelming Dick Tracy’s pages, while underwhelming readers.

    Turn off!!!

I think Mike should be doing a better overall job with writing this strip, as he is capable of doing do.

His best outing as of late was his small Nero Wolfe vignette which was actually well written…

It is not properly contextualized by Tracy fans because it was only an initial tale. This initial crossover requires a rapid and much more complete sequel to round out its first and perfunctory story.

Mike is too often his own worst enemy. He should have brought on a strip co-writer years ago, to share and alleviate the heavy workload required of a weekly comic strip writer, esp. as his health declined. This would have allowed him more time and energy to better develop his plot ideas, character portrayals, dialogue, etc.

But, the usually caustic and incisive feedback from Tracy fans is a bit much, and although it is deserved, it does not help with Team Tracy’s morale, either.

For instance, they do get a good deal right, specifically Shelley Pleger’s brilliant artwork…

Now, if only Curtis would exploit his own assets as opposed to being held hostage by his own literary vices…

Your monocular way of looking at this comic strip is utterly nonsensical. You should take a couple of months off, l mean years…

Mike only told half of a great tale here. He has plans to return to it later on. I don’t think it could be any more obvious…

No one should be complaining here. This crossover did not disappoint!
