   “Cats need lots of loving.” Absolutely, barely. Some people think cats have no feelings at all. They are totally wrong. Yes, cats can fend for themselves (for a while), but they are much happier in a secure loving home. And as we both know, they are every bit as loyal as dogs. They’re just not as exuberant ( smile ).    Hi barely. Well, sort of. It’s not Matthew-kitty, though. It’s Finney-Finney-Einstein, the fastest claws and teeth west of the Atlantic. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration.) He’s about 4-5 years old and has been with me since February 2020, and he’s finally learning to keep his claws sheathed and inhibit his bite. He’s also starting to purr a lot, so there’s hope ( smile ). Maybe if the crew of the Revenge were nicer to Scratch, he’d come around once he truly believed he was safe.    Hi pchemcat, In time, when you’re ready, the 3 rescues will start to fill the void left by Hemi and Cuda. But you’re right: they can’t replace either one. And in the meantime, we will begin to adjust to our losses.

   The younger kitties — do you give them treats in your lap, or even close to your lap? It’s amazing how a cat will pimp itself out for a favored goodie ( grin ).

   Neither of my two rescues are lap kitties, for which I am grateful. Matthew is 20 lbs, and occasionally lies on me from my rib cage, over my lap, thighs and down onto my knees. It is such a relief when he gets up (lol). Finney is 15-lbs. He came to me as a street-wise, probably abused, stray. Laps just aren’t his thing, but he would love a switchblade — it’s so much more efficient than claws (just kidding). Still, he’s becoming very loving, and learning not to bite and scratch.    As my Matthew-kitty walked between me and my keyboard, I asked him what he preferred for breakfast: barbecued sirloin or barbecued dumpster whatever. He hesitated just long enough to shoot me a dirty look before he moved on. I guess when it comes to food, cats have no sense of humor.
