The sentiment of the cartoon is appreciated. The stereotypical depiction of all latinos (even Mexicans) as wearing Mexican sombrero and sarape, is not.
Cartoon, artistic license, etc, yeah, but… running up some stairs with a (presumably pretty sharp) katana held over your head is probably not a very good idea.
Trained, indeed. The question is, “by whom”? A lot of the US law is based on goodwill and the assumption that we’re all basically decent, law-abiding folk. But a “well-regulated” and/or “well-trained” militia can just as easily be a white-supremacist militia who has received its training and indoctrination from powers and interests contrary to democracy, equality, and freedom for all. What’s happening in the US of A is neither new nor unique. All we need to do is review the history of how any of the tyrannical regimes in the world have risen, and you’ll see the same pattern.
You may not have thought that through. “A well regulated milia”, separate from the regular armed forces, and armed to the teeth with modern weapons, may not be something that any democratic government wants to deal with. The potential for a very lethal armed insurrection increases many-fold.
