Yes. And the material you justify the ban for reflects what Anne Frank actually wrote. So why should a true story about the true feelings and confusion of adolescence be banned from a library for adolescents? Is it just the fact she had feelings for a girl? But the feelings for the boy are OK? Seems a little inconsistent.
@Mr P: Did we need to desgnate schools as “gun free zones” before people started bringing guns and killing kids at school?
Why do we feel the need for “gun free zones” I wonder?
The question was “which is more likely to be banned?” The answer is that the diary HAS been banned before. It’s been considered “controversial” in schools for many decades. The fact is that her own rewriting of her diary left out a lot of her previous entries about sex and sexuality, some quite explicit.
Jan 6, 1944 she wrote an entry that specifically describes that (though "lesbian may be pushing it. Sexually curious may be more accurate). [I edited a word to avoid problems with community standards]“I could not help being terribly inquisitive over her body, for she had always kept it hidden from me. “I asked her whether, as a proof of our friendship, we should feel one another’s brxxxts, but she refused.”She goes on to describe being “in exstasies” at seeing women’s bodies, such as Venus.
Starting at 1950 I thought it was going to go to the part where not having enough to eat is just the cost of maximizing profits.
Writing was procrastinating from life.
