A couple more suggestions (if that’s ok). Maybe introduce a quirky relative who either lives in town or visits periodically (think – the weird grandma in Cul de Sack). Also, maybe the town has an annual festival of some kind, maybe a celebration of the fisherman lost to the sea or a feast for the scary deity of the ocean, who, legend has it, rises out of the ocean every few years to claim a bride. Finally, love your wide-angle panels where you show the panorama of the harbor!

First off, love your strip, Will. The artwork is great, and the characters are unique and entertaining. If you’re looking for new ideas/directions to develop the story, I would suggest adding more subplots involving them in school. It would be a way to introduce new characters (if you want) and there’s lots of new and potentially humorous situations that could result. Maybe there’s a super-strict teacher that the kids could team up together to foil in different ways, or some of the kids could join a team of some sort. I also like the development of the mom into her own distinct personality (surfer, etc…) and not being defined purely as a mother figure. Final suggestion, perhaps explore the town more, and it’s quirky inhabitants, lots of potential hijinks and subplots there. (Town drunk? Town Ghost? Some lingering mystery that needs solving?). Anyway, keep up the great work!

Love the slightly abstract backgrounds, Will.

Think of it, all the best comedy shows/comic strips have one wacky character who can be relied upon to deliver laughs: Klinger, Kramer, Zonker… etc…

Is the tube slide an artistic nod to Richard Thompson? Flounder flapjacks!

Check out the desk with the hole for the inkwell, from the days before ball point pens.

Very interesting. So, you’re saying that the Earth has a natural resonance, and when animals vocalize, they are mimicking that tone? I need to look into this.

I miss the Weekly World News. Now that was comedic gold! And very entertaining…

It’s grass that tastes like crab, obviously. It’s quite delicious, actually. I like to use it in my soup.
