    Judging by the cover of the book “Lieutenant Dangerous” {bottom of the page} that’s Danziger’s own lighter on the left…

    Interesting factoid: “Trickle down theory” was a term coined by Harry Truman to attack Republican tax cuts for the rich and not the poor

    Given HST’s turn of phrase at times, i’m fairly sure what he meant that the Republicans were letting trickle down on the poor – the people referred to as “peons”…

    He tried to but she was too busy ironing his father’s brown shirt and pointy-head robe to pay attention to him.

    {BTW: Per DIck Gregory, the robes are actually flat. The heads inside are pointy.}

    My year in The Awful Place that i alluded to was spent at the Navy comm station at Cam Ranh peninsula – we never got his, but we had frequent alerts and often heard the fighting up on the mainland.

    I and my fellow electronic technicians were designated as the fire team for the commsta perimeter; when we had alerts, we grabbed our 16s, helmets and flak jackets and took up positions in foxholes just inside the fence.

    We weren’t expected to hold off a determined attack that got theough the base perimeter – we were there to delay Mr Charles long enough to give the radiomen long enough to set the thermite charges to destroy classified documents and the secret/top secret ctypto gear.

    Bill Mauldin cartoon from WW2 – Joe and Willy are pulling out, and a British soldier, sitting on a half-buried tire, among all sorts of general junk says “I say – you chaps do leave a messy battlefield.”
