   Saw a jay in the backyard today. Our jays here in the UK aren’t all blue, they’re more a pinkish tan, with a blue stripe on their wings.

   We put up the tree tonight. It’s been our tradition to put it up on St Nicholas’ Day. I unfold it (it’s artificial) and string the lights and the silver holly and bells garland (Woolworth’s, Boston, sometime in the 80s), and it’s become my tradition to do it with a CD of the sixties-esque psychedelic sounds of the Electric Looking Glass.
