This strip reminds me of a student chess tournament. The tournament ended with just two top players from each school playing each other and it got a little weird. The opposing team began distracting behaviors like standing up, coughing, snickering, and outright talking trash while their opponents tried to think. When this was appealed to the judges, we were told that distracting behaviors were not covered in the rule book. However, they did disqualify the rowdy teams because if they won, it wasn’t clear if they won by their skill alone.

Dirty tricks happen in baseball. But distracting the infielders is just mean.
