The bee beer is unsurprising. I’ve seen alcohol made with stranger things, like rattlesnake tequila, Chicha, which is corn chewed to a pulp by Andean women and left to ferment in clay jars, or seagull wine (yup that’s a real thing, thanks Eskimo’s.)
Also, the venom of bee’s and snakes and other creatures have been found to have medicinal properties.
Like the Blue banded bees, carpenter bees are also solitary.
Making beer from honey is a fantastic idea. But from killer bees is just plain stupid. Ask anyone who’s survived an attack. I mean ‘Killer’ is in the name. Because they swarm and kill you or anything that disturbs their nest. Mistakes will be made.
They might be talking about bee pollen which is a mixture of flower pollen, nectar (a sweet watery plant substance), and bee saliva (spit) packed into the hive. Bee pollen has roughly 250 substances, which are thought to work together.
Those look like yellow jackets, what we deal with. One stung my puppy on the eye, it swelled shut, couldn’t get him seen by a vet, ice pack helped, and have him on benedryl.

Luckily I was close enough to hit the bee with my shovel.

I have had mead, which is made from fermented honey and water. Some has been pretty good. Other has been “meh.”

We could be sleeping in the flowers. We could sleep all afternoon. You proclaim that you’re an island, I proclaim that I’m one too

It’s actually not the honey they are referring to as the extract. It’s from a brewers yeast that they found in the killer bee.

Is killer bee extract another name for honey?
