Because declining to send our kids to die by another country’s request is just sooo wrong.

By all means, lets go get into another war and lets be sure that we charge it to the national credit card. That way we can feel all patriotic about sending our kids off to die and sticking their little brothers and sisters with the bill.

About damn time. And nicely done, Obama. He did the official “yeah, we support Israel” thing while making it clear that we would NOT start a third war in the Mideast at our expense just because it would be convenient to Tel Aviv.

Nice editorial on this by Thomas Friedman in the NYT. He makes the case that Obama is the most Israel-friendly president in history, by NOT giving Bibi a blank check, and making a clear and logical case that this is about regional and world security, not just Israel’s security. The GOP is only offering totally naive chicken hawks.

Use a bit more psychology, people! Ahmadinejad is sabre-ratlling so iranians will stick behind him instead of going Arab Spring on him. Threaten him back, and you only give him more credibility.

IMHO, Iran is pretty much the only country where islamists have nothing to win anymore (they have it all already and people are fed up). We could get rid of a big enemy if we encourage protests there.

Iran built its nuclear facilities 250 feet underground because of Israel’s attack on the nuclear sites in Iraq and Syria. Even the most powerful blockbuster bombs- which were given to Israel by Obama Administration but the Bush Administration had refused to give- cannot destroy the nuclear facilities. The distance to Iran is also further than Iraq or Syria, and the Israelis have asked the US for refueling planes to carry out strikes. The Israelis will, because of the size of their air force, probably get one strike at the sites and that will not be enough to get the job done. Only the US has an air force large and advanced enough to carry out the multiple strikes to get the job done. The only reason Israel will attack Iran is to force the US into a war and complete the job the are incapable of completing.

Unlike Syria or Iraq, Iran has prepared itself for a possible strike, including retaliation against Israel and Israeli and Jewish targets around the world. We have already seen attacks on Israeli diplomats in India and an attempted attack in Tblisi, Georgia. Iran’s proxy, Hamas, can launch dozens, if not hundreds, of short range rockets into Israel.Iran can attempt to close the straights of Hormuz, which will certainly draw the US into a war.

Any war with Iran will have a disastrous affect on oil supplies and the economy. We could be faced with a situation of gas rationing, similar to what we had in the 70s.If Iran is attacked, there is a good chance that not only will it retaliate against Israel, but also against its neighbors across the Persian Gulf, such as Saudi Arabia. Iran is the most populous country in the Middle East, with almost 78 million people, two-thirds of them below 30. This is the generation that will overthrow the Islamic regime, if we let them. If Israel and/or the US attacks Iran, the young people will rally behind and support the regime they now hate. Ahmedinezad is limited 2 terms and his second term expires next year. The Iranians do not have nuclear weapons now, and they won’t when Ahmedinezad leaves office.

The oil prices reached a peak of more than $147 on July 11, 2008, which was almost entirely due to speculation. The recession had already started before oil reached its peak and demand was down while supplies were plentiful. The old rules of supply and demand did not apply in 2008. The prices continued, even as people started driving less and staycations started to become a phenomenon in America. If you want to complain to the people responsible for high gas prices, don’t blame the Arabs, don’t blame politicians, maybe not even the oil companies. Go to downtown Manhattan and start protesting in front of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The price of oil went up today because Greece was able to implement its bailout deal and the US economy added 227,000 jobs in February.

You are correct! It’s not Obama’s fault.

It is wall streets 1% that is to blame.

Making that dirty pipeline will NOT bring the US any oil. That’s why it’s going to a PORT! It’s earmarked by Canada to go to China.

I just saw a lying ad by the energy people who said the tar sand oil is good. They say millions of jobs. But if you look up the actual story, it will bring in maybe a couple thousand temporary jobs.I feel fed up with everyone who is thinking Obama should have done miracles in these 3 years. He is not the evil (fill in the blank) that faux news says he is.

He is our president, and he has had a very hard road with all the obstructionists and the pledge by GOP to make his presidency fail. I’ve never before seen such hatefulness!
