In the ring with Harry Reid: Now I wanta good, clean fight. No biting... no elbows... no rabbit punches... and absolutely, positively no low blows... any questions?
I believe this was an Abbot and Costello routine and/or Three Stooges or Martin & Lewis.-Where are those tax returns anyway? Still being retroactively edited?
Since Romney gave us his 2010 return we can actually make some conclusions about at least his 2009 return. Two points: he had no earned income, only investment income; and he had a carried loss. The only way you can carry an investment loss from one year to the next is if your losses exceeded your profits. Therefore Romney had zero investment profits in 2009 and since there was no other source of income he paid zero taxes. There is a good chance the same thing happened in 2008 since that was the height of the economic meltdown. So Harry Reid got it right.
It is basic accounting. Romney ought suck it up, publish the returns and have an accountant there to explain it. If you don’t make any money you can’t be expected to pay taxes.
Bruce: the actual sad history of shenanigans goes back a long way. ONly some police reports, covered up quickly, revealed the Edwin Meese/North/Noriega “involvement” in drug smuggling, then there was Rumsfeld providing Saddam those chemical weapons used against the Kurds, and early support for Saddam’s “nuclear program” when he was fighting Iran for us. Gulf of Tonkin vs U.S.S. LIberty incident in the ’60’s defining our “friends” vs “Enemies”.
Harry turning the tables on the “Birthers” and other right-wing “creative writers” is frankly, funny, if it wasn’t such a sad statement on the intelligence of the electorate.
The ‘toon, and comments, also prove that authoritarian “conservatives” are always willing to dish it out, even below the belt, but can’t take it, even a soap bubble or feather touching “their view”.
I’ve noticed that Romney has been busy not responding to Reid or to the Obama ad that actually aired this week on Romney’s lack of tax returns. The ad that the rightwing is upset about, "woman dead of cancer " never aired on TV. NO money was spent airing that ad. and was never aired, instead, the GOP is all upset about that and very clearly avoiding all mention of tax evasion. How much DID he pay in taxes?"

If Romney can’t deal with Harry Reid he sure as hell won’t be able to deal with his own party.
