The whole Middle East, parts of Eastern Europe, a good bit of Africa, some of the far East, all escalating. Anyone else see paralells with the Balkans in the last century? Stick our noses into every little conflict, like McCain wants, and all we’ll be sure of is a faster descent into chaos and another world war. Stay out of it, and they can go to hell in a handbasket in small, separate pieces, rather than all together.
At the time of the first Golf War, I criticized G W Bush for not “finishing the job” by invading Iraq. We have since learned that he made the right decision.
Obama did not pick Nouri al-Maliki to lead Iraq. Maliki came to power in 2006 & has worked hard to push Sunnis into open rebellion.Obama was criticized by some of the conservatives here for not funding the Syrian opposition. Some of those same folks are saying if he sends money to the Syrian opposition now, he’s funding ISIL.I see a very noticeable lack of actual cohesive policy from any conservative, other than whatever Obama is doing, is wrong! The American people are pretty much dead set against getting directly involved in the Mess in Mesopotamia.
I guess I forgot to hit the sarcasm button. Interesting how people can’t figure that out. But that is really what we, the Persians, and Russia/China are doing throughout the world: foment something, claim the “insurgents” are/are not “legitimate”, then go in to help “our” side!
“And just what would YOU have done differently, to satisfy YOUR notions of what might be a “good job”?”.The first thing I would have done is scrap the ACA. Well I never would have pushed for something so ill planned. Something so massive in scope has no business seeing the light of day during difficult economic times. During ANY recession, economic recovery should be job 1..First thing I would have done is consult people smarter than I am on how to get businesses HERE, to put people to work HERE. Whether through tax incentive or penalizing imports, just push that ever helpful nudge to get people working..I would have looked at corporate welfare, when they are getting big tax breaks to move jobs overseas would get my axe..I would have kept Bill Clinton’s modified welfare program with it’s work requirement that Obama eliminated. I would not have spent money to advertise food stamps, I knew about them when I was 5 years old and my family was NEVER on food stamps or any kind of government assistance..I would pull in close my favorite liberal politician Elizabeth Warren and listen to some of her ideas..I would decriminalize drugs and prostitution and tax the bejesus out of it..I would make same sex marriage legal across the board and call it the “tax justice act”, to confuse the righties..The border between the US and Mexico would be heavily mined with AMPLE warnings..Line item veto (probably should be first)..I would probably gather as much dirt on senators and congressmen as possible to both facilitate cooperation and discourage blind party loyalty, because I would piss alot of people off on both sides of the fence..Lastly I would call my wife and tell her “honey I’ll be a 1 term president”.

Maybe we should just bomb the s—- out of the whole area. Then whoever survives can be recognized as the “legitimate” power in the region!
