The wingnuts will drag up anything to distract from her policies. Ariall fell for it. Her racial background is irrelevant. What she stands for IS relevant.
The issue isn’t going away and will haunt her all through her run. The difference starting Saturday when she announces her candidacy is that the issue will be brought up by some of those on the left. She’s mishandled the problem since it surfaced in 2012, so it’s partially her own doing. The latest revelation that she checked off the Native American box in TX back in the 80’s along with identifying herself as a “minority’ Native American in law directories will give many people some doubt as to what she was intending to accomplish by doing so. I don’t see her getting very far in her campaign, but then again, I was sure Marco Rubio was going to come out of the pack of Republicans in 2016. :P
What I find truly offensive about this cartoon is the implication that Senator Warren can’t shoot straight while that is one of her most appealing features.
As usual, the “white” community as represented by Mr. Ariail does not accurately depict Indians. To my knowledge, no female Amerind was ever “awarded” a feather, eagle or otherwise, for bravery. This particular bit of symbolism was strictly for male posturing amongst their own sex. Female Amerinds had other ways of establishing themselves in their own hierarchy – Senator Warren would NEVER wear a feather on her head.
Also, by the way, the Senator from Massachusetts has never, to my knowledge, engaged in “Identity” politics – the Left generally leaves THAT to the Republicans, who are orders of magnitude better at slander, bigotry and racism that we’ll EVER be.
In fact, Warren’s parents were disowned by her father’s family for her minuscule blood quantum. I think it was probably a proud and sentimental embrace of her great great great but still shunned grandmother.
Exactly— Warren’s positions on the issues agree with those of about 70-80% of American voters, who would like to see Medicare for all, affordable education, and regulation of the banking industry. The Republicans are against all of those things. Since they haven’t a prayer of beating her on the issues, maybe they can make a big deal out this really stupid issue. I doubt that it’s going to work. She would beat any Republican in the general election, but there are quite a few Democrats that share her positions. Wonder why she scares the Republicans so much more than the other Democrats.

Arial is right; it is a shameful and embarrassing thing to be of Native American descent. She must be ridiculed at every opportunity.

Well, they sure can’t beat her on the issues, so they’re counting on this one thing.

What did Donald Jr. call Native Americans this morning? Oh, yes; “Savages.”
Lovely.
