There is nothing wrong with Congress modifying a program already created by a bill they have already passed. They would do this to correct problems with what they have already created. And, like all such large governmental efforts (or large private efforts for that matter), there WILL be problems. This will be the legitimate duty of Congress with the ACA, just as it has always been with any other program!

But, to just totally shut such a program down that potentially has so much benefit to so many Americans, and then to have to start the whole legislative process over again, would be just unconscionable for Congress. If this is too hard for some in Congress (the tea party types for instance), then perhaps in 2014 it would be time for their actual employer in the people of the United States to consider their voluntary retirement, and elect more reasonable representatives. Representatives that would be more willing to actually work for all of the people of the US, and not just those in the financial end of the Health Care industry!!!

Or, am I being too hopeful here?

“Moderate” GOP? Any of those left? What we have are 1. Conservatives2. Hardline conservatives3. Birchers4. Tin-hat conspiracy nutjobs. And the median is somewhere between 2 and 3 and moving down. They purged the party of all true moderates some time ago. When even Orrin Hatch moved right to counter a Tea Party threat in a primary — Orrin Hatch!! — we are not talking about left, right, and moderate anymore. We’re talking about a party that would have found Ronald Reagan a dangerous radical.

obviously hatch and McCain – just to name two, are just RINO, and need to be excommunicated from the party.

“Someday the American people are going to wake up.” Emma Goldman, Detroit, Michigan, Nov. 26th, 1919I’m afraid the American people are deeper asleep now than they were then.

We know what’s in the bill, Stevie. It’s a pretty good bill, the best one we’ll ever get. And if it REALLY had problems, Cruz could have complained about those actual problems. HE wouldn’t have had to lie about the IRS, lie about government control, lie about the doctors, lie about the death panels, lie about price increases, lie about lack of access, and complain about parts of the bill that only exist in Republican fantasy-land. Obamacare will happen, and every single disaster prediction made by Cruz will quietly fold its tent and sneak away. Remember this when Cruz asks for your hard-earned cash.

only problem with that, Paj, is that it WON’t be started over…the need for health care reform will be ignored…AGAIN

Republicans haven’t changed from a stance of smaller government, fiscal responsibility and social conservatism. The perception of what moderate is has. After years of moving in one direction, it’s bound to bounce back a bit.

It’s always fun when the Progressives don’t get it. They are so cute when they are confused.

I think you are not being truthful about this being your personal experience. There is an email going around the Karl Rove chain that makes this claim. Here’s the truth:

A little more research shows some insurers are doing double digit increases on premiums. It’s worth noting that Medicare Advantage plans are private insurance coverage that offer extra benefits and prescription coverage. My advice to anyone seeing big rate increases is to shop around. Not all insurers are doing this.
