Things that do not kill children at school, worshippers in churches, synagogues, temples or mosques, shoppers in stores or those seeking entertainment in movie theaters, night clubs or concerts:

• Books

• Storytellers or performers in drag

• Learning about different kinds of relationships and gender identities

• Learning honest and objective history

• Pronouns

• Statue of David or other Renaissance art and statuary

Conservative Republicans have made various proposals to ban all of the above.

What DOES kill children at school, worshippers in churches, synagogues, temples or mosques, shoppers in stores or those seeking entertainment in movie theaters, night clubs or concerts:

• Semiautomatic assault-style battlefields in the hands of a terrorist, convicted violent felon or domestic abuser who was able to easily obtain it by walking into a gun show or ordering online from a private party.

Conservative Republicans resist any effort to implement common-sense safety rules to rein in this epidemic of battlefield carnage.

A minor point. The David is holding the end of his sling strap in his left hand and the right is curled around the other end, not hanging loose. Nobody ever shows the backside in pictures, but I was there and I saw it. It’s possible to walk all the way around the statue.

If Repubs banned assault weapons what would their families pose with for their Christmas pictures? Which proves they have no idea what Jesus stood for.

If you live in a Republican control state, in the near future, you can carry a gun without a permit. Repubicans want to go back to the glorious days, just as in Western cowboys movies.

Statues and other works of art like David have been around for centuries and only NOW are they getting upset about it? Does this mean that none of them can ever go into a museum where paintings or sculptures of a certain era are house lest they have a conniption or one of their kids with them starts to get “ideas”?

Or are they secretly upset about the size of David’s junk not realizing the reason it was sculpted that way?

Seriously, make a law that every gun manufactured and sold in the United States must be designed as penile extremity, and all ammunition labeled as its discharge.

@Norton99 • It keeps trying because it’s trying to get under people’s skin, and its biggest reward (probably a mild form of sexual ecstasy) is when somebody like you responds directly to its provocation. It considers it a day’s work well done.

The David was banned by a bunch of liberal parents, highly sexualized drag shows are not harmless and young children don’t need to be indoctrinated by groomers in elementary school.

How about we get rid of the things that damage souls and lead to sin…Then we take the killing machine and use it to protect the children from the people who already have the killing machine illegally.

I do agree with the NRA and the Republicans. Guns are not the problem, people are. So I suggest a ban on all people who would like to have a gun. Just a simple ban. Banned from walking the surface of earth in perpetuity. Plus it will decrease CO2 footprint, pollution, starvation, water consumption…

I wonder what the reaction would be when some of those witless wonders in the House stepped out for an interview and found themselves looking down at the barrel of an assault rifle???
