basic cooking tip, if you do find you’ve made a dish like chili too spicy, add a little canned corn to the mix, the sugar in the corn off sets the heat and effectively ‘cools’ it down
Too many people confuse heat and flavor. Spicy food should have flavor, if you cannot taste the subtleties, then you have gone too far. Getting the balance right is where the art of cooking comes into play.
Also remember you can always add some hot sauce to boost your preference while you are eating, so making the main meal a little more generic is always a good way to go.
When I was a wee kid, my mom got sick with a nasty flu. Dad’s businesspartner’s wife’s Mom decided to help and made soup. Dad came home happy not to have to cook for 2 little ones. We sat down to eat – OH WOW! DRAGON SOUP !!! It was Soooooooooo hot. We tried, but could not eat it. I don’t remember what we did instead. Looking back years later – I bet she was from Lousiana. But I still remember that burn. You can get too hot.
Rose must end up with a lot of leftovers, while Jimbo and Pasquale nibble salad and buttered bread. Come to think, we never see Pasquale trying to deal with recipes that have been “Vickied” up a notch. (There was an old strip where he had a near-death experience after tasting miso soup.)
I am worse I also don’t like most spice in the proportion which normal people like them , as in – I only salt to many foods as he wants it in the food and only as much he wants.
Hoping this version posts – I am not allowed to use spice y.

Jimbo must prefer his food mild and his woman spicy.

I think I’ve finally figured it out. Jimbo has an alter ego of his own, but he’s just exactly like Jimbo in every way.

Don’t understand the desire to burn your mouth or have stomach problems later by having hot spicy food. Flavor yes, heat no.

I like a sweet-spicy flavor, but I never saw the attraction in pure “heat,” beyond just enough to warm yer innards as it goes down.

Jimbo, you can cool it down in your own bowl once you serve it.

I’ll never understand why people would want to destroy perfectly good food by making it too spicy.
