Cons were all for extracting enough oil to be self-sufficient, until we did, and now we are a major exporter. Which is what they claimed to be against. Now they are working against renewable energy.

So which petroleum company does Darkside work for? Normally it’s a refinery fire that makes prices go up this time of the year.

It’s not like the Pipeline is trying to keep up with Brangelina or the Kardashians.

A globally open internet is a good thing, most ways. Though it does mean that operational security needs to include keeping the “views and controllers” machines physically apart from the internet. Really. NOT CONNECTED. And that means that you have to wander around making the operators do what they were told and required to do, even if it does make them less productive.

I’ve heard that the proximate cause of this particular breach was “engineers working from home during the pandemic”. That’s likely true, but if those engineers had simply HAD RULES about connecting and (more important?) FOLLOWED THE RULES, then it wouldn’t have happened. Rule 1: There shall be no connection to the views and controllers dashboard that is not made from a physically present console or AT LEAST through a VPN. And 2: “You shall never use your personal computer to connect to work” And 3: "The company “connection” computer shall never be connected to the internet. View porn (or kitties, or twitter) on your OWN machine.

Be prepared for more junk like this. World War III may well be fought on the Internet.

Companies don’t want to pay for security because the expense lowers net profit and they don’t want to pay taxes so the government can increase cyber security (aka infrastructure) so here we are.

And quit blaming Biden…remember Grover Norquist wants a government so small it can be drowned in a bath tub

This same thing seems to have happened to Wilkinson’s creative juices – or is it just a vacation? Or another GoComics gaffe?
