Vets are usually ignored (when someone doesn’t blame them for the planners’ mistakes). For many in the (so called) upper class, soldiers are needed the same way garbage collectors are need, that doesn’t mean that you have to talk to them or treat them civilly.

The USA is a sad and destructive force in the world thanks to modern politics.

It’s worth noting that this is not by far the first time a drone strike killed innocent civilians. It’s just the first time the US admitted it and apologized.

Vets have been conveniently ignored for a long time. Republicans in Congress feel it costs too much to take care of them after they come home and secretly wish they died heroes on the battlefield instead of coming back, needing care for PTSD, TBI, and missing limbs.

That’s more or less “politically true”. What is NOT true is that it was wrong to leave. It was RIGHT (sorry, but sometimes I’ve gotta use the word the way I mean it) to leave. What was wrong was being there in the first place.

I believe it was whatsisname that left Afghanistan to the Taliban, cutting a deal with them without the Afghan government, and arranging the release of 5,000 of them for nothing in return.

Oh, sod right off. We were there for twenty years, spent trillions of dollars, and accomplished nothing. Then Biden follows TFG’s policy, and suddenly it’s all on the Democrats?!?! Go away little MAGAT.

The US military has shown arrogance worldwide for decades, with the equal foolishness of politicians looking for a quick buck. We are not by any stretch of the imagination “perfect”. We don’t even bother to educate ourselves before we get involved in conflicts that are hundreds (even thousands) of years old. And like the adolescent country we are, we have all the impatience of adolescents. We need a freaking Time Out from expressing our opinions, selling weapons, and engaging in conflicts.

I am glad that there will be less of our servicemen getting injured in Afghanistan.

At least Biden had the guts to leave. Anyone who thinks we were ever going to win a war against a bunch of religious fruitcakes is an idiot.

I recommend looking up Rudyard Kipling’s poem “The Last of the Light Brigade”.
