My disgrace of a US Senator, Ron Johnson (R-WI), says he’s going to vote against confirmation because “Democratic presidents ‘universally’ nominate individuals who become activists instead of judges who apply the law rather than alter it.” But guess whom he had no trouble voting for.
@artegal: I read an interview with the guy whose name was outed several times during the hearings. He was raised in a strict conservative family, and he realized he was gay. He decided to do some research online, and got caught. (Makes one wonder if he could have spoken to someone else, like a teacher or a school counselor. Oh, said Republicans. Perish the thought!) He admits to doing wrong, and recognizes that and has been through counseling and has created a decent life for himself, although his name being on national TV over the course of the hearings hasn’t helped. He appreciates the chance that he was given, and realizes that his life could have turned out much worse without his relatively light sentence.
I thought the idea (certainly not the result) of legal punishment was to provide means for rehabilitation and re-integration as a productive member of society. Perhaps many people in the Senate think that the idea of legal punishment is just to continually punish, for life if possible.

They can’t deny her on her resume, so they have to bang on this made-up “soft on child predators” BS.

How old am I? I remember when hearings and votes on Supreme Court nominees were not a platform for grandstanding and a toxic tit for tat.

Our nation’s fairness, equality, and justice will be in jeopardy as long as parties — rather than We The People — have control of Congress.

Hopefully, Justice Jackson will be the standard by which future Justices will be nominated for the Supreme Court.

NOTE TO THE LATEST PRO-PORN GOP PERVS DIVE-BOMBING THE GOCOMICS WEBSITE:
With the assistance of my Internet – savvy spouse, I’ve requested that Gocomics take down this latest suicide bomber for the Republicans.
One of them has already gone down in flames and hopefully this latest one will soon follow.
