I have NEVER understood (and cannot) why so many people have picked masks to hate on. Yeah, they’re a PITA… but you know there are tens of thousands of people who spend their careers wearing masks.
Safety belt laws went through a minor controversy many years ago but are now accepted as a legal obligation to operate a motor vehicle. If belt laws weren’t passed, likely thousands upon thousands would be unnecessarily dead. It wasn’t debated as a political issue, and although car manufacturers resisted belt installation, scientific facts and stats drove governments to treat it as a public health initiative. Masks should be considered the safety belt of the face, providing protection for the wearer, but more so for those around him/her.
Still wearing mine Knowing that about a third of my customers are unvaxxed morons is incentive enough. Also haven’t had the flu in a couple of years so…bonus!
I hope that our country never has to make real sacrifices, as we did during the Depression and WWII. Our population of whiners doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the greatest generation.
In Dickens’s story, the ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge nostalgic visions of his youth, notably including a good young woman’s love, which he failed to appreciate at the time. That failure underlies his miserable state in the present. Just so, some Americans’ failure to appreciate masks and mask mandates during Christmas of 2020 has entailed misery for Christmas 2021.
When I become annoyed at the stuffy nose I have after wearing a mask for three hours I think about the medical personnel who care for patients with covid and realize what a trivial burden I bear compared to those who care for the endless stream of sick and dying.
I’ve seen different parts of Japan that have been wearing like a normal everyday thing, and for other reasons. I think masks will be a permanent daily thing for the whole world.

Christmas present and, sadly, Christmas yet to come. All tanks to that very first American dictator wannabe, herr trump.

It’s sad that deaths are increasing. Particularly among unvaccinated Trump supporters. Very sad.

Mentally ill Republican perverts refuse to do anything to stop a preventable disease from killing Americans.

The people who complain about vaccines and mask mandates are the ones causing this.
