Maybe you have learned nothing. And I agree that as a society, we are totally failing the test. But you know a lot of us have learned something. It’s not a pleasant thing to know, but we do know it. We know that our government is run by people who prefer killing children to cutting into the literally  obscene profits of the gun manufacturers.

How many more of these before we can have sensible gun laws like every other civilized country?

Legal guns legally purchased and used by obvious mentally/psychologically deranged people. Total failure to be able to regulate firearms. And now, of course, gun purchases will skyrocket as ammosexuals fear new laws restricting their access to them.

Yes I’m outraged, the only way to change this is at the Ballot box, vote any pol. That votes against sensible gun laws out of office often!

No matter how you try to frame an argument, If you vote Republican you are voting for more gun lust, mass shootings, and support for guns over people. This reminder has to be repeated as often as possible.

BY THE WAY… Soon after Gov. Abbott announced the death of the children and a teacher at Robb Elementary School in the town of Uvalde, Texas, about 130 km west of San Antonio, a 2015 tweet by the Texas Governor resurfaced where he called upon Texans to buy more guns. “I’m EMBARRASSED: Texas #2 in nation for new gun purchases, behind CALIFORNIA. Let’s pick up the pace Texans,” the nearly seven-year-old tweet read.

The tweet tagging the National Rifle Association (NRA) was made during his first year as Texas governor while sharing a link to an article about the state’s gun sales.

I do support responsible gun ownership. You look at Canada, Iceland, Finland, Serbia, and Montenegro; their percentage of gun ownership is close to ours. The difference is they are taught and raised that a gun is a tool. Not a toy, not a supplement to your manhood. Most of them have basic physical and mental health tests. You also have to pass safety tests and check out on a range. And no, not the type you neighbors buddies 10 acres in the country range who checks you out sharing a six-pack. I remember both my father and grandfathers taught me gun ownership responsibility. As did the US Army.

Right wing, Left wing, bah. Gun reform is needed. Where did this 18-year-old get this gun to kill all these people? And his body armor? He couldn’t legally buy beer or cigarettes but had no trouble, apparently, getting his hands on a rifle and another gun. How many more shall we sacrifice before this idiocy is eliminated?

@GiantShetlandPony- That’s exactly one of the reasons why NYC has very strict gun laws. Can you imagine if the laws were lax like most other places?? It would be Okay Corral here everyday! NYC screens the hell of its gun applicants. You can only obtain a target permit and when going to the range, it must be carried in a locked box. You CAN NOT obtain a carry permit unless you’re a police officer, Corrections officer, a Marshall, a Sherriff, or you own a business. And you have to prove that you make a certain amount every month in order to qualify. Jewelers and locksmiths are the only non law enforcement people who can legally carry.

Since Columbine in 1999, 185 children, teachers and others have been killed in school shootings and 369 injured. Last year there were 42 attacks. think large numbers of anything no longer shock us. Sad.

The conservatives (& a couple liberals) have to decide… do they love our children after they’re born more than they love their damn weapons of mass destruction. Remember when Steve Scalise, Capitol Police Special Agent Crystal Griner, lobbyists Matt Mika and Zack Barth and a staffer for Rep. Roger Williams of Texas were shot on a baseball field. Everyone was shocked, I tell ya, shocked. And what changes were made? None. No sympathy for Scalise – he wanted no changes made to gun control. He loves his guns more than his own wellbeing.

Do we have a memorial anywhere honoring the victims who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the 2nd Amendment? We need something akin to the Viet Nam Memorial with the etched names of the victims. Of course it will need to be very expandable to add more names often.

Pretty much every campaign ad here in Alabama shows the candidate holding a gun and promising to protect the 2nd Amendment. So not much hope that things will change.

Did “you” seriously expect anything else? “This” happens time and time again and the republicans accept it as.. unfortunate.. but necessary, to keep the NRA on their side.. and the donations rolling in from the gun manufacturers.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s old pro-gun tweet resurfaces after deadly school shooting

Within minutes of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announcing 14 students and a teacher had been killed earlier Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, an old Abbott tweet calling for Texans to buy more guns resurfaced on Twitter. “I’m EMBARRASSED: Texas #2 in nation for new gun purchases, behind CALIFORNIA. Let’s pick up the pace Texans,” Abbott tweeted on October 28, 2015, during his first year in the governor’s mansion, while also plugging the NRA and linking to an article about the state’s gun sales. This isn’t the first time the tweet has recirculated after a mass shooting in the Lone Star State.

If I were a parent, today, I’d have to keep my kids at home. Our state has a good K-12 online school program and that’s where they’d get their schooling. I know some kids have to have the class environment, but with covid on the rise, and mass killings still unchecked the kids need protecting. I know that would put a strain on the parents who need to work, often with both parents earning as well as holding down two jobs to pay the bills, but lives, the very precious lives of our young are at stake. Our nation’s birthrate is down and no doubt this suggestion would slow it even further.

Is there ANYONE with an ounce of common sense in charge anywhere????Slaughtering children is not just for Putin-it’s practiced by the NRA and each and every one of its supporters. And by those dimwitted cretins who can’t seem to figure out that the 2nd amendment is a product of the 18th century.I’m going to go lose my breakfast now-

It has gotten that the 2nd Amendment is so broadly interpreted even Moses couldn’t part it like he did with the Red (with blood) Sea……Maybe they should rename the school to ROBBED (as in robbed of their childhood) ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
